Contact

Whether it is a pothole, a grant enquiry, an idea for the villages or something you would like raised at the next meeting, we would rather hear from you than not.

How to reach us

The Community Council is run entirely by volunteers who live here, so please bear with us if a reply takes a few days.

Email us

Write to DaltonCarrutherstownCommunityCouncil@outlook.com. This is the best way to reach the whole Community Council at once.

Facebook group

Join our community Facebook group, where news and local updates are shared between meetings.

Come to a meeting

Every meeting has a slot for members of the public. No notice needed, just turn up. See when and where we meet.

You will also find our noticeboards in both villages, in Dalton and in Carrutherstown, with meeting dates, agendas and anything else worth knowing pinned up inside.

What we can help with

A community council is the most local tier of representation in Scotland. We have no budget for services and we do not own or run local buildings, but we do carry the community’s voice to Dumfries and Galloway Council and other bodies, and we administer the local windfarm grants scheme. Things worth contacting us about include:

  • roads, potholes, drainage, verges, gritting and signage
  • planning and licensing applications in the area
  • street lighting, footpaths and public spaces
  • applying for a local grant from the windfarm funds
  • anything you would like raised at the next public meeting
  • events, clubs or news you would like included in the newsletter
  • joining the Community Council itself, which is always short of members

If something is an emergency, please do not email us. Our Community Resilience page lists the numbers to call for power cuts, flooding, police and health.

Enquiring about a grant

There is no form to download. Email the Community Council with a short summary of four things and we will send you the most relevant application form:

  • what you intend to use the money for
  • whether you are applying as an individual or a group
  • how much you wish to apply for
  • your contact details

Where we are

Dalton and Carrutherstown are two villages in the civil parish of Dalton, in the Annandale South ward of Dumfries and Galloway. Dalton sits about four miles south of Lockerbie, and Carrutherstown a little to the south west of it on the A75. Between them they are home to around 330 people. You can read more about the area and its history on our Our Local Area page.
