Dalton & Carrutherstown
Annandale, Dumfries & Galloway
Dalton and Carrutherstown are two small villages set in the rolling Annandale countryside of Dumfries and Galloway, a few miles from Lockerbie, Annan and Dumfries. Dalton is a designated conservation village of old stone cottages and quiet country lanes, while Carrutherstown sits along the A75 within easy reach of the Solway coast. Together they are home to around 300 people.
It is a friendly, close-knit place of big skies, working farms and long-established families, with landmarks such as the ruined 15th-century Little Dalton Kirk and the village parish church. This website is run by the Community Council to keep everyone connected, with local news and live updates, meeting dates, events, and grant funding for the area. Everyone is welcome.
Funding for our community
Windfarm & Renewable
Energy Grants
Through the Minsca and Harestanes windfarm community funds, individuals can apply for up to £250 to help with a community project, non-constituted groups up to £500 and constituted groups up to £1,000. Larger projects may also be supported through a wider fund. If you have a project in mind and would like to apply, we are happy to talk your idea through. Applying is simple: email the Community Council with a brief note of what you would use the money for, whether you are applying as an individual or a group, how much you wish to apply for and your contact details, and we will send you the most relevant form.
